Consular Card

Senegalese identity card or passport; 02 passport size photos; ZMW62 for a stamp.

Note: The consular identity card is required for any administrative procedure at the Consulate general in accordance with decree no. 2021-1003 of July 30, 2021 amending decree no. 61-394 of October 4, 1961 concerning the administration and regulation of Senegalese nationals.

Legalization

- Originals or copies of documents Senegalese to be legalized.
- Passport or National Identity Card of the principal and the agent Consular card.
- Non-Senegalese users who wish to have their documents legalized by the Consulate General must first submit their documents to a sworn Zambian authority for legalization.

Note: No form is required for this procedure. The applicant can book an appointment directly online and arrive on the scheduled date with the required documents.

Birth Registration

Birth certificate issued by the town hall of the place of birth; Passport or Senegalese national identity card of the declarant (Father or Mother); Consular card of the declarant parent (Father or Mother); copy passport or ID if a declarant isn’t a Senegalese.

Visa application form in duplicate copy Passport (valid for at least 6 months); Return ticket flight; 2 passport photos; Hotel reservation or certificate of accommodation legalized by the police station or invitation letter from or a letter of introduction.
The issuance of visa is free of charge.

Marriage

Registration of the Local Certificate Marriage

Marriage certificate issued by the City Hall of the place of residence; Full copy of passport or ID of the wife or husband who is of Zambian nationality; Passport or National Identity Card of the person who is of Senegalese nationality plus his Consular card.

Wedding Ceremony at the Consulate General

1. New Marriage or Spouses

One of them should be a Senegalese and the foreign national should find out if his Embassy or rule of his country allows him/her to contract marriage at the Consulate General.

In case of non objection, the futures spouses should bring:

  • Passports or ID and consular ID for Senegalese(s)

  • Births certificate less than one (01) year each

  • Certificate of celibacy for each

  • Parental authorisation in case if one is minor

The presence of two (02) of them is mandatory for filling forms and the publication of the benches for fifteen (15) at the Consulate General will be done, according of Senegalese Law.

After receiving no claims about the marriage projected, a day will be fixed and each will come with witnesses for the civil celebration at the Consulate General.

2. Re-Marriage

this case happened when a woman wants to get married again after:

  • Divorce

  • Death of his previous husband

The applicant should provide evidence of one of the events mentioned above, plus his passport or ID and non-marriage certificate.

For the man, it happens in case of:

  • Divorce

  • Death of previous wife

  • To get another wife in case of polygamous indicated in his previous marriage certificate, not more than four (04) wives


The applicant should provide evidence of one of situations indicated above, plus a copy of his previous marriage certificate, passport and ID.

The Senegalese Law doesn’t allow the change of option from monogamy to polygamous but the contrary is possible.

Note: In all cases, the Consulate General will deliver a family record book (livret de famille) where all events linked with the marriage will be registered (births of children, deceases or divorce)

Death

Death certificate issued by the Town Hall; Birth certificate of the deceased; Passport or Senegalese National Identity Card of the deceased; Consular card of the deceased; Passport or Senegalese National Identity Card of the applicant.

Special cases: Funeral pass

A Senegalese identification document (national identity card or passport) of the deceased; Death certificate; Cautionary certificate; Certificate of no epidemic or non-contagious disease; Authorization to leave the country for burial purposes or authorization to transport the body issued by the local authorities, documents could be found with a local mortuary house.

Note: A mortuary pass is essential for the repatriation of the deceased; the mortuary pass is issued upon request from one of the deceased's relatives.

Power of Attorney (Notary)

Electronic version (Word) of the deed drawn up by the notary in Senegal as part of a notarial act; Passport or Senegalese national identity card of the principal; Copy of the passport or copy of the Senegalese national identity card of the agent in Senegal; Consular card of the applicant.

Special cases: Notarial acts

For notarial acts, the applicant must provide the electronic version (Word) of the act drawn up by the notary in Senegal.

Note: A general power of attorney, as its name suggests, can be used for multiple administrative acts, for example, and for a flexible duration.

In contrast, a special power of attorney is limited in scope and ceases to be valid after the execution of the act for which it was granted. This is particularly true for powers of attorney signed to sell or buy, give or receive property.
